IPL Facial and Body Skin Treatments

IPL (Intense Pulse Light) is a new, non-invasive, non ablative technique that uses light and heat, with a wide range of wavelengths (from 430nm to 1064nm) and optimal power impulses, to solve aesthetic problems of the face and body without damaging the surface of the skin. The most common treatments using IPL devices are permanent hair removal, rejuvenation, whitening, removal of sun spots and stains, age spots and other discoloration.

The causes of acne are an increased sensitivity of the sebaceous glands to hormonal status (androgen hormones), increased production of sebum (sebo-regulation) and sebo-clogged glands. Accumulation of fat facilitates the growth of bacteria that lead to inflammatory processes and the development of acne.

Intense pulsed light works on the principle of light waves that destroy the acne-causing bacteria by means of high temperature (wavelength 430 nm). Treatments using this method are suitable for treating severe acne, mostly on the face and back. Eventhough the results are visible after the first treatment, it is necessary to repeat the procedure in a span of 7 to 14 days until the final results are achieved.

The course of treatment and the results

he skin must not be tanned – solarium, sunbathing and bronzing creams should be avoided for 4-6 weeks prior to treatment. The treatment is performed using local anesthesia in the form of creams, but can be performed without anesthesia as well. Treatments last for 20-45 minutes. The skin is refreshed after the treatment, no exaggerated reactions such as redness, swelling are noticed; otherwise, cold compresses would be suitable – the reaction disappears after 2 - 3 days. During the period of 6 weeks after the treatment, it is necessary to protect the face from the sun. Intense pulsed light can remove acne, but certain types of acne cannot be solved by this method.

The aim of this treatment is to remove redness, tiny capillaries of the skin, to create the complexion equalization, and thus restore youthful looking skin.

IPL pulsating light frees up energy that penetrates to the red blood cells in the skin, performs clotting of blood vessels, breaks the tiny capillaries and evens the complexion - PHOTOCOAGULATION. The treatment is painless and the feeling of burning sensation is individual. It is very important to do a series of treatments every third week, which includes 4 - 8 treatments so that the effect is complete for this health-aesthetic problem. When applying the IPL, capillary walls become stronger and they have a tendency to narrow, the circulation gets better and they eventually disappear.

The course of treatment and the results

The skin should not be suntanned, 4-6 weeks before the treatment it is necessary to avoid solarium, sun creams and bronzing. The treatment is performed using local anesthesia in cream form, or can be performed without anesthesia. The treatment lasts for 20-45 minutes. The skin is refreshed after the treatment, the exaggerated reactions such as redness and swelling are very rare, and if they do happen, we should apply suitable cold compresses and the reaction disappears after 2 - 3 days. In the period of 6 weeks after the treatment it is necessary to protect the face from the sun. Intense pulsed light can remove acne, but there are acne that can not be solved this way.

IPL can successfully treat hyperpigmentation caused by excessive exposure to the sun (of face and body alike), and pigmentation resulting from the use of tanning or bronzing creams. You can treat age spots, hyperpigmentation resulting from pregnancy and puberty caused by the skin reactions to hormones, or skin reactions due to consumption of drugs. Treatments result in fresh and radiant skin.

Depigmentation treatment with IPL works based on pulsed light emitting light waves in the target area, either face of body, thus clearly removing stains, hemangiomas and other skin imperfections. Treatments are repeated at intervals of 14 to 21 days. Enhanced skin structure and the positive changes are visible after each treatment.

Feelings during the treatment are individual and vary from region being treated. You can feel a tingling sensation, but in most cases the feeling is pleasant.

The skin condition with some clients may require additional treatments after the initial series of 4 to 6 treatments. If you decide to do this kind of treatment, you should know the following:

- Most adverse reactions are mild and transient and may be reflected in the form of redness, which must occur after each treatment and disappears after 24 hours.

- Mild swelling and bruising as post-treatment pigmentation disorder are also possible; however, according to statistics these are reported in only 1% of cases if there was serious damage to the skin prior to treatment, as the result of external factors and poor-quality connective tissue around the blood vessels. These effects usually resolve within 3 to 4 days.

- Of course, we will give you clear instructions prior to treatment regarding the conditions necessary to make possible the treatment of skin in this way, as well as necessary instructions after the treatment.

Photo-rejuvenation is the process of skin rejuvenation by means of light. Aging, hormonal changes and environmental actions, primarily the sun, cause degenerative skin changes, reduced collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles. One of the most popular applications of E-LIGHT IPL in dermatology is the treatment of wrinkles, i.e. facial rejuvenation treatments, using light beams. Photo rejuvenation is based on the removal of a thin surface layer of the skin, reducing the depth of wrinkles, and the skin gets a boost for regeneration and the creation of new skin cells. This procedure also reduces imperfections and small scars on the face. The skin becomes tighter, smoother and of visibly better quality.
