Permanent hair removal with IPL and RF
IPL device emits high intensity light in a very short time and is a great way to permanently remove unwanted hair. This method is referred to as laser removal, but it really is not. Lasers emit monochromatic light (precisely defined wavelengths) unlike IPL devices which emit polychromatic light (a segment of wavelengths). IPL devices have a far greater contact lens, and the treatments are much faster and cheaper. Thermal effect of IPL is demonstrated by initiating the synthesis of collagen, thickening of elastin fibers and better overall metabolic balance, so that the benefits of treatment with IPL are multiple.
HOW DOES IPL WORK
The apparatus produces short pulses of intense light filtered by a particular wavelength, to be absorbed only by the melanin in the hair, and directs them to the hair. The light energy at the root of the hair is transformed into heat, which permanently destroys the root. The important fact is that this treatment works on the hair in the growth phase, so it is necessary to repeat the treatment.
PREPARATION FOR THE EPILATION
The optimal hair length for epilation should not be longer than 1 mm, and the best effect is achieved if the hairs are removed with hair removal cream prior to the treatment.
HOW DOES THE SKIN LOOK AFTER THE TREATMENT
The heat destroys the root of the hair, but it still remains in the follicles for 8-20 days after the treatment, and then it falls. At this stage, it may appear that hairs still grow normally, but if you try to pluck a hair you will see that it glides out of the follicle. Slight redness may appear on the skin after the treatment, which is desirable in order to know that the treatment was successful. The redness soon withdraws.
HAIR GROWTH PHASES
- Anagen (growth phase) phase which contains approximately 70-90% of the follicles.
- Catagen phase (degradation phase), containing approximately 1% of the follicles.
- Telogen phase (resting phase), with approximately 10-30% of the follicles.
Anagen phase is the active growth phase, and its length is genetically determined. After this stage, degenerative changes occur in the hair bulbus and the hair separates itself from the follicle (Catagen phase). In the third i.e. telogen phase, the production of structural cells ceases and the hair papilla separates from the rest of the hair. As the root is wider than the rest of the hair, the hair does not fall out quickly from the follicle canal.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IPL
Due to the different phases of hair growth, it will be necessary to repeat the treatment of one area for several times. The intervals between treatments vary between 4 and 6 weeks and treatments are done in a series of 4 to 8 reps. One of the most important rules of epilation is that the skin should not be exposed to sunlight or UV radiation 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after epilation. This is in order to achieve the maximum good effect, so the light would not be "wasted".
